12 ways to make sure your press release hits the mark

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

When you are writing your own press release it can be hard to be sure that you have hit the mark. Here are 12 quick checks you can do to make sure you are writing a press release that will get coverage for your news:

  1. Have you read the publication before writing the release? Make sure you are writing in a similar style to what is on the pages of the magazine or newspaper that you are targeting.

Bexhill Business of the Year

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

I’ve just found out that ACPR  has been nominated as Bexhill Business of the Year in the Bexhill Achievers Awards. I’m delighted - particularly as we have only lived here full time for around 9 months. I don’t expect to win, but hope that it will raise my profile locally. I’m not sure who nominated ACPR but thank you, whoever you are.

What to Do When Your Child Hates School

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

My new book is up on the publisher’s website, even though it is not out until September. The site says, What to Do When Your Child hates School Cover

“Every parent wants their child to be happy at school, but it’s not always that easy. In What to Do When Your Child Hates School, Antonia Chitty tells you what to do if school is making your child miserable or failing to meet their needs. Unlike other books, this guide will look at solutions within and outside the state education system, from talking to the school, looking at different schools, educating at home or even setting up your own school. Real life case studies will enhance clear explanations of your rights. Hear from parents, teachers and children about how to make the system work for you, or how to work outside it.”

Could coaching help you?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Everyone has heard of coaching, but is this just a new trend that will go the way of things like Feng Shui or something that could make a big difference to your life?

From personal experience, I’d say the latter, It took just one session with Suzy Greaves of The Big Leap back in 2003 for me to see that there was a better way to earn a living. I quit my job, fed up with attempting to do five days work in four, yet never getting enough time with my daughter. I then launched ACPR, and have enjoyed the ups, and the downs, of self employment ever since.

But what about the cost? (more…)

Media ops for mums and business women

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Pick Me Up magazine is looking for mums who belong to a ‘Mums Club’ - anything from a baby swimming class to a regular coffee morning with a few other mums, to be featured in the magazine. They say, “We would love a picture of a group of mums and their babies to print on the Toddlygook page of the magazine, as a regular new feature. If you belong to a club, please send us a picture of your group via email and tell us a little bit about yourselves who you all are, where you meet and when (please include your telephone number on the email) and you’ll receive a £25 payment if the picture is printed!”

Woman and Home is looking for women, aged 40-50, who have recently launched a new career based on a previous experience/skill - but not one that has been gained through their career. I need images and details on the new business, what they did before and what inspired them to set up their own company.

If you want to find out more about either opportunity, email me. The Woman and Home case study is needed today.

T is for Testimonials

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Do you find it hard to tell people what is great about your business? For many people, business promotion is too much like blowing your own trumpet. And, of course, why should they believe what you say: it is in your interest to say that your business is great. A much better way to gain the trust of your potential customers is to use testimonials.

A testimonial is simply a statement from a customer or client about their experience of your products or services. Use these complimentary comments on your website, in your newsletter and alongside the offering that they refer to. You will find it makes a real difference to how customers perceive your business. A genuine third party opinion has far more weight than copy you write yourself.

How can you generate testimonials? (more…)
